I don't care who you ask...
|
I don't care what day of the week you ask them. I don't care what the location of your asking is. But ANYONE who knows what so much as one musical note looks like should be smart enough to know that THE ALLMAN BROTHERS are the forefathers of what was to become the style of music now referred to as ''Southern Rock''. Without them there would be no Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet, 38 Special, Wet Willie, Marshall Tucker, Blackfoot, The Outlaws, and so forth and so on. Even ''That Little Ole' Band From Texas'', called ZZ Top, owes a debt of gratitude to THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND who paved the way for them by placing Southern Rock on the table in a manner and a style that had not been done before.
It was an absolute delight to meet Greg Allman's son, Devon, and to (quite unexpectedly) see and hear a musician who is as intelligent and personable as he is talented. Listen to our EXCLUSIVE MP3 AUDIO INTERVIEW WITH DEVON ALLMAN and you will instantly discover exactly what I mean. While not content to rest on his family laurels, Devon is carving out his own niche and he is doing it with a head that is screwed on straight. His highly blues-influenced band is as tight as ever and his new album, with major distribution, is available now.
I would like to thank DEVON ALLMAN for taking time out to speak to THE OFFICIAL MADISON THEATER FANSITE and, much like Warren Haynes & GOVERNMENT MULE, as well as all the rest of the great guitarists we have featured at The Madison, it is only a matter of time before this highly impressive player makes his way, front and center, to a sold out house in our theater and, should this not happen, it certainly will not be because he does not have the talent to do so. I greatly enjoyed the opportunity of getting to know him...and I look forward to the next day and time when I can do so again. --Rick Flynn 3/6/08
